Scientific Sanitation Solutions (SSS) is a proudly South African, black-managed and black-owned enterprise, purpose-built to advance inclusive industrialisation in the chemicals, biosecurity disinfection and water-treatment value chains.
SSS’s empowerment-led team offers scientific innovation with tangible socio-economic dividends, positioning the company as a high-impact government partner for resilient supply, local job creation and transformation at scale.
Objective
Scientific Sanitation Solutions wanted an international household brand that captured their innovative spirit, honoured their South African roots and gave them a professional edge for international markets.
The Challenges
- Long Company Name: Designing a logo and identity that worked well with a lengthy name without losing impact or readability.
- Timeless Design Elements: Creating visuals that felt modern yet enduring, to stand the test of time in a fast-changing industry.

- Easily recognisable: The aim was to have a recognised abbreviated name –‘SSS’
Our Solution
Starbright sat down with founder Victor Adendorff to map out the long-term vision for SSS. We kicked off with logo design, exploring three distinct concepts to find the right fit.
After review, we landed on option #2 as the winner. It’s a clean “SSS” icon with red accents that perfectly blends water flow, innovation and reliability.
We then rolled it out across a full stationery suite.
We extended the brand across essential stationery items:
- Letterhead: A simple layout with the logo prominent at the top, contact details aligned for clarity, and subtle footer elements for a professional touch.
- Business Cards: Dual-sided designs with a dark background option for impact, including QR codes for easy website access.
- Email Signatures: Clean, clickable formats with the logo, tagline (“Innovation | Technology | Science”), and social links.
- Other Elements: Consistent typography and icons to ensure the brand feels unified in every communication.
- ‘SSS’ became the golden thread running through all our product designs: This approach made the ‘SSS’ brands desirable in many countries.
To ensure the brand remained consistent over time, we also created a full set of brand identity guidelines.
It sets clear rules so SSS can apply the brand correctly in all materials, from print to web.
The design remains versatile for print and digital use, keeps costs low and scales easily to support their growing operations in South Africa.
