Forgot your password for Windows Login? No problem! Buy a new computer, just kidding. In this article you will learn how to reset your Windows Login password in a few simple steps:
What you will need?

- Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool
We all know how frustrating it can be to forget your password, between having a complex password structure or you just simply struggle to remember your passwords. Resetting your Windows password is as simple as one, two, and three. Once you have reset a Windows password you will never forget how to do it again.
Step 1:
Download Windows ISO based on the Windows version of the computer’s Windows that has the forgotten password on it. Below are a few links where you can download the ISO:

Step 2:
Download Windows USB/DVD tool and install it. Note that for Windows 10 Users you will have to enable .NET Framework 2.5 in order for this application to work:

To enable .NET Framework, go to Control Panel, Programs and Features. On the left pane choose Turn on Windows features on or off. When clicked on a screen will pop up, select .NET Framework3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) press “OK” and Install the USB/DVD Tool.
Step 3:
Make yourself a Bootable USB or DVD, Choose the ISO that you have downloaded as the source and Select “Next”. Select the medium which you wish to burn the ISO to.
Simple so far. Now, for the more “Techy-stuff.”
Insert your newly created bootable medium into your computer/laptop with the forgotten password, restart your device and boot from the DVD or USB inserted. Windows will now start loading.
For this tutorial, we will be using Windows 7.
Once the Windows is booted up on the DVD or USB, Windows 7 will display a screen as follow:
Click NEXT:
Click on Repair your Computer:
Wait for your Windows Installation to be discovered and click on “Next”:
After you clicked “Next” you will be prompted with a screen with multiple options to choose from, you will only need to choose the following option, “Command Prompt”:
While in the Command Prompt or CMD copy and paste the following commands. Please note that some of the drive letters may differ from computers based on where the Operating System is installed. For this tutorial my Windows is installed in D: for most computers/Laptops it will be C:
Execute the following commands in Command Prompt:
copy d:windowssystem32utilman.exe d:
then
copy d:windowssystem32cmd.exe d:windowssystem32utilman.exe
and press ENTER
Windows will prompt you to overwrite indicated as below, press Y and hit ENTER
After all the above is complete, close the Command Prompt and Restart your computer/laptop.
Now you may ask: “What have I done?” “How is this going to help me reset the forgotten password?” Well, with the commands executed in the command prompt, we changed the format of the Ease of Access Button to open the Command Prompt instead of Easy of Access option. Once the Computer is restarted, click on the Ease of Access Button (pictured below):
Now you can reset your password using the Net User Command. Type the following commands in the Command Prompt:
net user username password
for example:
net user Tim n3verE@Tsn0W
Hit Enter and the password will be changed.
There you go! Your password is reset. However, you are not done just yet. Boot into your Media Disk again and click on NEXT and then click on Repair your computer Link, Select Command Prompt again.
copy d:utilman.exe d:windowssystem32utilman.exe
Restart your computer again and make sure your Ease of Access is working again:
Now you are done! Go claim your title of “Computer Genius”.
